I believe the advent of the Internet has also helped GL's prices.
When you have entire groups talking about GL sales it will keep drawing new bidders into the fray.
The Old Woodworking Machines group regularly talks about GL sales and when someone mentions what a good deal they recieved on something it's more free advertising for GL.
The same also applies for the GSA auction website as well.
