In light of the article in MV magazine about units adding steel plate to
their vehicles. I would like the members of the list to try to date this
quote.
"The disadvantges ..are numerous some of which are as follows.
a. Limited all around protection
b. Causes vehicle to be overweighted where by excessive wear and tear on
vehicle is apparent
c.Impares visibility
d.Limited space
e.Driver is cramped to some degree and there is some difficulty in
dismounting the vehicle in a hurry.
f. Once vehicle has been modified with the plating it cannot be used for
routine patrols thereby limiting its use and rotation with other vehicles."
Additionally how much do we think that the US Army is going to spend in
research and development to relearn this lesson?
