I have a dated June 6,1944 picture with the caption
"American assault troops of the 16th Infantry Regiment, injured while
storming Omaha Beach, wait by the Chalk Cliffs for evacuation to a field
hospital for further medical treatment. Collville-sur-Mer, Normandy.
in this picture which shows several soldiers with various feild dressing
there is one man with his back to camera who appears to giving aid to the
injured.
my questrion - he has an "E" painted on the back of his jacket, for a guess
about 6 inches tall.
I have absolutely no doubt that someone on list knows the signifance of this
"E". also quiestion comes to mind - this "field hospital" - on a ship, or
somewhere else on land???? And what sort of MV will they be transported
in??
Thanks
Everette
