Was browsing the web and looking for some information on International engines and saw the following RFP from TACOM
HMMWV RePower Program
FFP
7 Engines and 4 tranmissions.
DESCRIPTION AS FOLLOWS:
a. Seven (7) International VT275, V6 version of the VT365 V8, the same engine as the Ford 6.0L Powerstroke V8. Developed by International primarily to meet the emission requirements under 8,500 GVW (for Ford F150 and Expedition), the VT275 V6 has 90% common parts with the V8 and is capable of essentially the same performance that was provided by the prior generation 7.3L V8. Initial production applications will be in Class 3, 4, and 5 trucks in North and South America, all oner 8,500 GVW.
b. Two (2) Ford "Torqshift" automatic transmissions. The new heavy duty 5 speed electronically controlled transmission used in trucks up to 26,000 GVW and well matched to the International VT 275 V6 and VT 365 V8. Code named the 5R110, this transmission replaces the four speed (E4OD) automatic and has demonstrated outstanding durability and performance when properly matched behind large gasoline and diesel engines.
c. Two (2) Allison 1000 automatic transmissions. This heavy duty 5 speed electronically controlled transmission has a proven service record in General Motors applications.
Could the Military be looking at other options then the 6.5 currently in service?
