hmmm...
I've not had any trouble cleaning injectors, and/or fitting
new tips to bodies.
Yes, they need to be kept clean....yes, you want to
avoid nicking or scratching them in any way...but it is
certainly something which can be done without disaster
by an MV owner with moderate skills and some lint-free
clean-cloths.
Further, for injectors which are "held together" by being
mounted in the engine, you can fab up a fixture which
holds them together while not installed, but connected to
the fuel line, and crank the engine to get a pretty good idea
of the condition.
Even though an actual opening-pressure can't be tested, you
can judge them by comparison to the other injectors, and
simply by seeing if they have a good looking spray or not.
Really bad ones will be obvious...marginal ones may not be.
There aren't too many shops left that will test injectors
for free...not around me anyway...and the prices charged
are getting close to what new tips cost anyway...so I've
tended to just fix them myself the past few years.
I too am interested in answers to his actual question tho...
where's the best place to buy them, and how much should
one expect to pay ? I might own a pair of multifuels next
week... <g>
