Hm. Didn't hear that one, but it wouldn't surprise me if they thought of it
at some concept stage when coming up with the Coyote. Kind of a huge turret
to saddle such a vehicle with though, plus it would tend to Scare the
Neighbours next time we had a Gustafson Lake incident to sort out.:)
Either way I think DDGM won out at the design stage and "did it my way" from
stem-to-stern on the beasties.
We like recycling here in the Canadian Forces. When we bought the Iveco
trucks way back when, they were designed to be used with various
purpose-built kits to become comms vehicles, cargo vehicles, ambs
etc.,etc. - yet our illustrious Gov't took the full-size pods off the backs
of the 1980's CUCV and 1976 Chevrolet "Five-Quad" trucks and dropped them on
the Iveco chassis rather than purchase the built-by-design shelters for the
beasts. I'll give them their due though, as they reskinned and refitted
most if not all of them before remounting them - but from what I understand
they were considerably heavier than the ones designed for the Iveco, and
nuisance frame cracks and other ills were the long-term result.
