*Rolls over laughing*
I remember this!!!!
Basically, both are right, in their own way.
Check the oil, run the engine for a minute, check again after allowing it to
settle for a minute, compare, make your own decision.
I think in the army we ran a cold engine for a minute, let it settle for a
minute, and checked it.
This procedure, I think, has something to do with the incredible amount of
oil that the oil filters hold.
Remembering that an M35a2 crankcase holds (if I remember correctly) around
20+ quarts of motor oil, I rarely
put much past it.

Subject: [MV] Deuce Oil Level
Hmmmm.....
The TM says the oil level should be 1" to 1.5" above the full mark when
cold.
The dipstick says check 1 minute after shutting down.
I can't image 1-1.5" of oil being hung up in a 1 minute shutdown engine.
By either instruction it seems the level should be above the mark when cold,
but by how much? Will 1.5" above risk blowing seals? What's best for a
465-1D motor?
Thanks,
Jim
