Hello fellow MVers.
I got to look at the 5 ton again today.
It has both data plates that are about 8 inches wide
and about 2 inches tall. The are both of the same
vintage but something is funny about the one. It
definetly has the M54 W on the plate and is all
original printing or actually Photo-Etched. It looks
similar to black anodizing in appearance. All
original looks for data plates.
The truck NSN is 2320-00-835-8335. It did originally
have a gas engine according to the data plate.
The other data plate has the model number, NSN, and
the serial number. The s/n is 05E9094. The contract
number and acceptance date (date of manufacture)
blocks are blank. The diesel engine currently
installed looks like a factory installation which does
not seem possible. Everything properly installed,
clamped, correct power steering installation, fuel
system (tanks included), etc. They used mil-spec
hardware too.
Just more info for an unusual truck I noticed.
Any more opinions or advice (-CDL discussion) is still
welcome.
Thanks again,
Jim
