That would be a pretty good guess, in my opinion. The M105A3's use a 7.5 x 22.5", 6-lug wheel of their own with 10R22.5 tires. It can be hauled by any of the 2.5, or 5-ton trucks, including the FMTV's. I guess that, and the slow replacement of M35's with other trucks, is why they decided to add the spare and update the wheel and tire combination. The surge brakes are a nice addition, too.
