Bill,
to answer some of your questions...
1. In my opinion restored is always better.. or try to restore as much as
possible to keep it original, then buy what repro parts you need to finish
it.. should be cheaper that way, and there is no guilt in telling people
this is a WWII jeep! a search on www.ebay.com and enter GPW and you will
get more to look at than you can believe.
www.G503.com has a for sale board and both have jeeps in different stages
of repair for sale.

2. Insurance is cheap no matter restored or repro as long as it isn't your
primary driver. JC Taylor charges me $75 a year for my GPW only asking
that it isn't driven more than 500 miles a year and is garage kept.

3. I have found almost any 6 cylinder vehicle can tow a jeep on a trailer
with careful driving. An 8 cyl truck or something would be better of
course... a simple flatbed trailer with 2 axles would be the best.. not too
expensive... what ever you do try to spend a little extra up front to get
the most complete vehicle possible and you will save money in the long run.

GOOD LUCK
