Yes , Rover in the UK built a gas turbine
powered car in the 1950s , A Rover 75 with sports body and reg no JET 1 , in
tests clocked 150 mph . Renault built the Etoile Filante clocked 191 mph ,
and GM built the Firebird . High production costs and fuel consumption
resulted in them not going into production . JET 1 is in the science museum
, London .
