CHICK MAGNETS?? WAS Re: [MV] 4th of July...advice

    I don't know about a CCKW with a .50, but an M35A2 with a .50 is a DUCK
magnet.... Twice in the past 2 months I've had a Mama Duck lead their broods
out in front of my truck trying to cross the road. First time we were doing
50 MPH and they stepped off "Phase Line DAFFY" about 50 feet ahead. Tried to
avoid and almost rolled the truck on the soft shoulder. Won't happen again.
Score: M35- two, MD and squad -two. Did a FOD check when we stopped at the
Ice Cream stand, but couldn't find any ESD on the tires or truck after the
first run in, err, over. (Hint for future reference... Stopping for Ice
Cream IMMEDIATELY after such an incident terminates ALL protests by the
porch monkeys in the back and appears to erase all things BAD that occurred
in the past half hour enroute to the IC Stand...must be so they don't
associate Ice Cream with squishing which would make Ice Cream distasteful,
ergo.... it NEVER happened!!!).
2nd time, same scenario, "Phase Line HUEY", no attempt to scatter, MD
had squad hang a very rapid left and the column played Kamikaze and took us
on from 12 o'clock, passing safely under truck (couple got blown ass over
tea kettle or did a 'Duck and Cover' but recovered) and MD hung a right and
continued the march across the road and commenced amphibious operations.
Maybe the difference in outcome was that the 1st group was an ARMY DUCK
group, led by a new 2nd LT Mama Duck who had snuffed her Platoon Sgt in a
previous road crossing, where the 2nd was a MARINE CORP DUCK unit led by a
Gunny Mama Duck, hence the iron discipline made for no question, charge into
the guns response. Safe for now, since it's wabbit season BUT....
"Make way for Ducklings"...yeah right. In the avian community around
here the word is getting out to "Make way for OD Trucks or become pate
"......
BTW... the Missus made me take off two magnetic 'duckies' I had put on
the upper front corner of the drivers door (properly spray painted flat
black) for giggles, 'cause she said it was in poor taste. Damn... my first
two 'CONFIRMED' since putting the AA .50 on the truck.... damn PC world.

PS... For those of you a little slow today, ESD= E vidence of S quished
D uck(s).
