Well, until the US moved away from belly mounted escape hatches nobody
was at all worried. Standard practice to pop the hatch and .......
If not, I believe the drill was to fire a round in the general
direction of Germany and use the empty brass as a private toilet
(when in combat). I believe it is highly advisable to let the empty
brass case cool before putting it anywhere near one's sensitive areas.
Now that firing a round in the general direction of Germany is no
longer politically correct, and as the Abrams has consumable main gun
rounds what do the crews do?
