It is very hard to be involved in this hobby without being open to
sharing your vehicles with those who want to know more about them.
Definitely; that is, for me, one of the most rewarding aspects of the hobby.
Nothing like seeing a young un's eyes go wide with delight while I'm driving
in traffic, and fielding the inevitable questions at stoplights, fuel stops
etc. Even more touching is seeing the grizzled old vets smile and salute...
always chokes me up in parades etc.
Even disconnecting the battery does not guarantee they will not accidentally
knock the emergency brake off (I've done it myself), causing the truck to
roll into a tent full of unsuspecting by-standers. That would be a tragedy.
It is a shame, but that is what it takes when you have to watch out for your
own stuff because others don't care.
Very good points and examples, Neil. I would say that perhaps the addition
of one or more sets of wheel chocks to the already-mentioned battery
disconnection and steering wheel chain / lock would be a good thing for all
to consider for MV events. I certainly will be doing so.
Best regards to you and yours,
T. Bones Morris
