Between you, me and the lamp post......

A quick and dirty way to deactivate your M35A2's Starter Button is to
reach up under the dash and pull the plug out of the back of it about a 1/2"
and rotate it 90 degrees and then push it back in until it seats again. A
little silicone grease on the plug helps this pull/rotate/push sequence.
Several very knowledgeable M35 owners have tried to start my truck to
move it at rallies and have been unable to figure it out. After I get in and
fake dropping something on the floor and then start it gets them looking for
the "kill switch" I must have hidden somewhere in the cab with no joy.
The plug has a Helen Keller installation aid, a little ridge on it that
is at 12 o'clock (or 6) when it is in the right position too be pushed in
over the pins. At 3 or 9 o'clock it won't push in over the pins (no
electrical continuity/open circuit) but feels properly seated.
I also open the drain cocks on the air tanks when I put it on display
and drop the pressure to 30 psi so that if some one does turn on the master,
the low air pressure buzzer scares the bejesus out of them and alerts me or
a crony to things being amiss. That little amount of air is better than none
if Mr. Dopey gets incredibly lucky and somehow succeeds in getting the truck
to move. If you can't immediately get it stopped, you can at least get a
blast off the horn as a warning.
You still need to chock the puppy, front and rear, since the that brake
handle is almost too irresistible a gizmo for folks to leave alone. Shifter
in Neutral, transfer case in Neutral about rounds it out to avoid a bump
start or a rolling start.
I had a run in with the mother of a kid at a display when the mother
asked if her rodent could get in the back (using the ladder). While in the
back he unwrapped a heavy rubber bungee cord that I use to secure the ladder
in place and had put the hook between the slats of the seat and started
pulling REAL HARD on it. I told him politely to stop before he gets hurt,
mommy did nothing. I told him more strongly to stop, mommy ignored me. I
then climbed in back and put my hand on the kids shoulder and grabbed the
end in his hand and pushed it back towards the seat to get the tension off
it. Mommy pulls a nutty about me touching her kid, accuses me of assaulting
her kid, yada, yada, yada. I told her to get a cop and put the hockey helmet
back on her kid if she intends to participate in hands off parenting around
MY vehicle. She took little precious (with both his eyes still intact) and
stormed off.
Another time a mother asked me to pay to get her kids shirt cleaned
because he transited from front to back and back to front UNDER MY truck and
got grease and oil on his shirt and shorts. I told her to get a grip on
reality. She left saying "We'll see!", never saw her again.
When it comes to vehicle displays, as my dad used to rhetorically ask,
"Why are there more horses asses around than there are horses?"

I deal with bores in a very straight forward manner. You behave, we have
fun. You act like a posterior depression, I act like tube of Preparation H
filled with Ben Gay and Louisiana hot sauce. As my family and friends can
attest, I am very good at it.
My House, My Truck, My Beer, My Tools, MY RULES..... You don't like it,
tough feces. I invited you, I can un invite you just as quickly. Go to your
house, your truck, your beer, your rules and feel free to act like the
unblemished, hemorrhoid free (Perfect) rectal opening you have turned out to
be.
Just cause someone you (usually) like to be around suddenly behaves
badly, doesn't mean you have to put up with it. And you shouldn't, because
it just encourages worse behavior and ends up embarrassing everyone. Stand
YOUR ground boys.....

Ron
