My M151A2 came with a hinged piece of hardened steel with a hole drilled in
the free end, on the shift handle is a piece of metal with a hole drilled in
it and when the shift lever and this steel strap are brought together, in
second gear, the lock hooks them in place and the jeep can't be shifted.
My thoughts on it when I saw it was "Well heck, just push in the clutch
pedal and push it away!" so I added a length of chain from the lock on the
shifter to the steering wheel and back.
So now it can't be driven, period, without cutting tools.
I have found a picture of a jeep in service with this exact same locking bar
on it, in use with the USMC.
