Hehe....
Well a month or so later we were conducting flight operations and this same
Krivak was being a pain...AGAIN! This time he was close astern weaving back and
forth. He caused more than one abort due to his being so close.
quite suddenly the mighty FID sped up and made a hard turn to port. Two Turkeys
that were on long final went to Zone 5 and broke the sound barrier right over
the SOB's bridge at his mast height + a few feet. the resulting double sonic
boom rattled OUR ears and we were about a mile away by this time (it simply
amazes me at how fast 86 thousand tons can get up and boogie that fast)
Flight operations went very smoothly after that....
