Tom needs no defense but let me offer this as reply to Mark's post
A few years back I had a 72KW diesel engine, skid mounted, generator,
military surplus for sale. Tom purchased it, drove non-stop in M35 from his
home to my location close to Memphis, Tn., about a 24 hour drive. Sale
price had been agreed on and arrangements had been made to load it for him.
I was not home when he arrived but my friend went ahead and loaded it. Tom
caught about 3 hours nap in his truck waiting on me to get home. Paid me
just like we had agreed. And I got to look at his truck, very impressive,
nothing was noticeable that would make it look modified, however it had
airplane hydraulic pump mounted on engine to drive power steering, and snow
plow lift. There had been a modification to dash, a panel had been added
that contained other gauges, been some time but seems to me were temperature
sensors for transmission and transfer case,. perhaps even differentials, and
seems like there were pyrometers for manifolds, and also incoming air temp.
All were very nicely mounted in a panel painted to match dash. Truck had
an excellent paint job, bed had correct sideboards excellent tires, all
around a very nice vehicle. After I got through looking he started truck
and drove back home again non-stop.
Generator had not been operated in some 15 or so years, he flushed engine,
changed oil, filters etc., removed injectors, cleaned and calibrated them
and pump. Put an auxiliary oil pump on engine for start up, filled fuel
tank turned on oil pump, used hand pump to get fuel to injector pump then
hit start button, started in 3 seconds, after oil pressure cam up he shut
auxiliary oil pump off.
He seems to be an excellent mechanic, engineer, what ever he needs to be to
get job done.. By the way truck in conversation on this post is an
excellent example of what a man with proper skills and motivation can
accomplish. With all the other work he did a/c would not have been a
problem
