Be very careful if you have AWD in this vehicle(not sure if teh 887 does or not) I have a 1977 M880 and recently had a nearly very bad experience with it returning home to Kansas after being in MIssissippi.
I was about 65 miles from home(a 960 mile trip) when a severe vibration started followed 5 to 10 seconds later by a loud bang and I was free wheeling. My front drive shaft that I had had rebuilt less than 2 months and less than 1500 miles before exploded(parts of which I never found). The ensuing flail after one end broke destroyed the transmission transfer case, exhaust pipe between the y pipe and muffler, transfer case shift linkage, from differential yoke, the drive shaft, and the most strange of all the front brake line at the master cylinder. I was doing about 70MPH at the time in the left lane of a major interstate in the rain. I managed to coast to a stop about a half mile later and discovered all of the damage. This drive shaft had been rebuilt by a 5 Star Chrysler dealer in Mississippi with parts from NAPA(according to them there was nothing in the MOPAR system to replace them)I haven't had the truck in 2 months as it has been awaiting one of the two prospective defendents to decide who will pay for
the repairs. I would recommend replacing the whole front drive shaft not rebuilding, if the OEM can't get it right, who can.
The joints on the truck before the rebuild(I had every u-joint and CV joint rebuilt on the truck while I was down there) were original and in far worse shape before I departed Kansas than the new ones were before I came back.
