Heres a simple test that I stumbled onto somewhere in my travels as a
rough check to see if an alternator is putting out. With engine running,
take out your pocket knife and place it on the rear bearing of the
alternator...if it is making juice, it will magnetically attract the
blade. Just make sure you don't have a stainless steel blade though...a
wrench or screw driver would work too. Check it out...if you find a good
alternator that it doesn't work on, kindly let us know. Fred Martin
