dome light bulbs are around 10 watts or just over 1 amp. that is 25
times more current than .040 (40ma) the memory circuit in a car radio
draws around 35ma, plus the other computer equipment that may be running
all the time. also the old practice of using a test light to check for
draw will only work on very old vehicles that do not have a lot of
onboard electronics. the test light will not allow enough current for
processors to reset and circuits to become stable. it will work fine on
a m-35 etc. but not on most new cars. so like i said before, 80 ma on a
24 volt system is negligible and if you drive it every month or so you
will never notice a problem.
