Hi,
On a similar problem, My M38 calls for GO 90 gear oil. What is the closest
alternative? Or what type of gear oil should I be using?

Subject: [MV] M35a2.. 80/90 gear oil... or?
So I'm under the belly of the beast draining the fluids from the drive
train for the first time. They all look pretty much the same EXCEPT
what's coming out of the transfer case. It's darker and smells kinda
chemically. I was going to put new 80/90 (API GL5, GL4, GL3 rated) in
everything, but now I don't know what to do. The truck was surplused
about 6-9 months ago from a local reserve unit that was shipped off to
Iraq, so I can't run down there and ask them. I'd like to drive the
truck today or tomorrow but I'm not sure about the fluids. Can someone
shed some light on the right thing to put in? The online LO doesn't
mention any difference for the fluid that goes into the transfer.
Thanks,
Alex
PS... I'm not sure I had to do this... the fluids looked real clean...
but better be safe than sorry.
