How long do you need to soak parts before the embrittlement occurs?
I've left high strees parts sit overnight (days even) in phosphoric
acid, and none of the nuts/bolts/brackets have failed. Probibly the
most stressed part is a jeep lower shock mount... the one that sits
under the springs, clamped to them by u-bolts, with the axel on top.
