Hi
Check out http://members.aol.com/muttguru/muttpage.html

There is a ton of info on the MUTT there. I looked in PS Mag Online but all
the MUTT articles have been taken down. The whole in print collection is at
the Armory so I don't have access to look up specific Sgt Half Mast
references.

Glenn,

Not that I don't believe you but just so I can see it for myself, where and
in which technical manual can I read about the MUTT?

Hi
Your right, nothings wrong with that. But M151's are reffered all over the
place including mil TM's and PS mag as Mutts also. Same idea as Hemmets,
Humvees, Goats etc. Just a nickname.

I worked on and managed maintenance on these vehicles in the U.S. Army from
1961 until 1982 and I can't remember ever reading anywhere that they are a
MUTT. I thought they were Truck, 1/4 Ton M151, M151A1 and M151A2. Whats
wrong with that description?

Is MUTT an official name of the M151 and does it stand for "Military Unit
Tactical Truck" or "Multi-Utility Tactical Truck". What is the official date
the first enter US military service 1959 or 1960 and when was it
replaced/stopped being built 1978 or 1985? There was about 150.000 built is
that about right? And how does that compare to the HMMWV. While I was in
service I never saw lots of M151 but now it seem like there are so many
HMMWV that when you enlist they give you one. TIA Wayne
