M880 hard to start

I have a rather odd infirmity with my 1977 Dodge M880 with the original 318 installed. It starts easy when cold, but restarting when warm is an extreme challenge. If I shut it down after driving awhile, it sometimes takes a shot of ether to get it started if it will even start. After that it runs great, just doesn't like to start when hot or warm. Would a new carb fix this? Perhaps a fuel pump?
