What shade of red paint should be used for the cross on an M43 ambulance?

Anybody out there had any good or bad experiences with any particular brand
name of red paint?

Also, for a '50s era ambulance with semi-gloss OD, what color would the
interior rear compartment be painted, S-G OD or that pea green stuff? It's
currently Air Force blue inside and out as it came from Shaw AFB.
