Thank you so much for the info! Those of us who are "States-bound" would probably never have known that this classic was available. This is a great opportunity to see a lot of very rare vehicles in action. I am off to eBay and then to Amazon to see if I can snag a copy. Thanks again for the tip. It is what makes this list so useful!

Subject: [MV] The Battle of Algiers
Folks, treat yourseves (or ask for it for Christmas) to a copy of this
classic 1960's film. Now out re-released DVD. Its in a genre of its own
about how the French retaliated to the Algerian terorists who sought to
destroy French colonialisation in Algeria. There is a joyful moment in a
scene where the Legion paras are breaking the general strike in Algiers by
forcing the shops to open, this includes using a Dodge 6x6 to pull the
shutters off the shops and a legionairre is seen "skiing " up the street on
the shutter behind the Dodge..... There are some good scenes with vehicles
to interest us all, including BDRM armoured cars, lots of jeeps, Dodges etc
but also the early Renault 4x4 trucks, SUMBS, Berliets and a variety of
quasi military vehicles. Accurately of course as there were many in North
Africa, many of the FLA terrorists are using German MP40's. This was filmed
just after the French gave Algeria its independence so the vehicles etc are
spot on.
Its film noire at its best. The Observer (a UK newspaper for the thinking
man)rates it as one of the best films of all time.
I would agree.
Go about your lawful.

Yeah, now that you mention it, where has "Osama been Lately?" The election
is over, so I guess he's closed down his TV studio for another 4 years.
