I have a Delco alternator, 24 volt with 75 amp output
nearly new. Looks like it should fit on my Mutt with
some tinkering, my alt went out...
First question: On the alt. there is one large 1/4
inch bolt with a two piece head that is insulated.
The head on the bolt says "No volatage", so I am
assuming this is just a safety precaution for an
appendage sticking out, ie nut covering the post for
the single wire terminal....and....
This is where I hook up, right??
Next part, it's 75 amps, thats a lot of amps, so how
big should the wire be that comes off that kind of
alternator?
I got a 10 ga. wire there now, but thinking of
replacing it with something heavier??
There is this small rubber cap over a lead, wondering
what that is for?
I put a picture of the alternator up on our website,
if you go to "mechanics blogger" link button on the
main page at milveh.com you can see it.
