This morning I took the time to double check all
the air pressures on the 5 ton. I went for 50
rear and 70 front for now. It seems as if the
right rear air line has a bit of drop in it's
pressure. I couldn't get anything more than about
70 PSI. I'll play with this later.
One of the things I noticed was a bit of Gear oil
on the right rear wheel's meaning my seal back
there needs to be replaced and the bearings
repacked...Fudge.
Anyhow, I took the 5 ton to a nearby lumber yard
to get some rail ties. Picking up such things
were of course easy. Drop the sides, the yard man
loads the ties with a forklift and I'm set. Nice.
Very nice.
On the way home however, I appear to have picked
up a nail. Enough of a nail that the left side
rear, inside tire went flat just as I got home.
It doesn't look flat because there's not enough
weight to distort it, so I was able to get it
parked safely.
So, here's a question, how with the little jib
for getting tires in and out, do the operators
lift and replace the spare? Is there a mounting
point for a winch of some sort? I have one, but
short of mounting it with U bolts on the Jib or
on the front part of the bed, I'm not certain how
to attach it. Anyone have any ideas?
