I have been using 30W oil for years (Texaco Ursa), but noticed that Detroit
Diesel suggests using 15W-40 in all their 4-stroke engines. The pamphlet is
not dated, but couldn't be more than 5 years old. There is actually a notice
stating "Monograde oils should not be used in these engines regardless of
API Service Classification". I understand that they are not refering to the
Hercules multifuel engine, BUT since cranking speed is very important in
cold weather starting, I went ahead and changed to multigrade for this
season, at least.

I'll study your information.
Thanks,

Bjorn
