Thanks for all the responses so far, I found my engine is intact, no
broken cranks or timing chain, the valves move up and down when the
engine is turned over, so all appears ok with the basic engine. The next
thing I was told to check was whether or not the fuel pump was working,
I was going to disconnect a line at the pump, but my M1009 has an added
A/C unit (nice in AZ, by the way) that makes access to the fuel pump a
PITA,then it dawned on me to just pull the fuel filter off the housing,
so I did that, while my neighbor cranked her over a few times. Diesel
shot out of the top spout, almost all the way to the alternator! So I'm
ASSuming that the pump is ok.
That's probably the good news, because except for some hoses between
the fuel filter and the injector pump, I don't believe there's anything
that could cause me any grief, so, I'm ASSuming (again) that my problem
is in the injector pump,....DOH!!!....All my manuals are packed away in
storage (just moved to the country) So I'm not sure how the pump is
removed, but in guessing that I'll need to remove the intake manifold,
disconnect all the injector lines and then remove it, is this correct?
What about reinstallation, I'm assuming there must be some type of
timing issue here? If you've done this (removed/replaced injector pump)
or have knowledge of the procedure, I hope you'll be kind enough to
share it with me. Please feel free to contact me directly, if you don't
want to tie up the lists bandwidth.
Thanks for your time - Tom Kelly
