Actually you can get the CDL without the card and have it as I do. That is
the first step. The medical card (up-to-date) is only needed when you are
going to haul commercially. Not needed when driving a private vehicle not
used in commerce, even though the vehicle may require the CDL depending on
its size etc. Bjorn will need the card if he stops at a truck check point
from the description he gave of his activities.
