I don't think the MX-7777 is generally used in the HMMWV or other
trucks. I think they're intended for use in armored vehicles where large
intermittent electrical loads (such as turret motors) cause big
electrical spikes and lots of electrical noise.
I installed my AN/VRC-47 in my HMMWV with a NOS installation kit. No
provision was made for a transient suppressor, and the instructions had
the power cable connected directly between the battery pass-through lugs
and the radio mount.
The conclusion is obvious: You need a tank to go with your MX-7777. As
an alternative, the MX-7777 may be appropriate on your HMMWV if you
install an Avenger missile system on it.
