Trivia : "Khaki" East Indian word for 'dusty'. In 19th Century
Colonial India Her Majesty's Forces would cover their scarlet tunics
with sand and dirt in order to blend in better with the terrain. Later
when they were issued dull yellowish brown coloured
uniforms the name khaki was retained, and became forever associated with
uniforms of that colour.
