I have used silicone rubber compound extensively for waterproof
encapsulation. It is very cheap, flexible, waterproof and can be dug out if
you ever need to remove it. The stuff comes in various sized cartidges and
colours, commonly used as a bath/wall sealant and available from any
builders merchants and many hardware stores.
