I was thinking you might want to take a piece of steel the width of the
channel
you have , attach it at the bottowm and angle it up and attach the other
end under the bed some
where. It will give a little more stiffness , keep the rear fender from
bending up, and big objects
will tend to glance off and not catch. It seems that there is a fair
amount of leverage there if
it hit on something substantial.

This is just my 2cents, and definetely not criticisim. I think this is a
really cool settup!
