Subject: Some HMVs on film, but....

Looking for help from some of our German speaking folks. I was given two 6
inch film cans by a friend twenty five years or so ago. The way the story
was related to me, one of his brothers/uncles was in USAAF intelligence and
was on the ground in Germany after the surrender. He brought or sent home a
bunch of stuff including these film cans.
We tried to run them on an old B&H Filmsound 399 Specialist that I had
picked up at an auction, but I couldn't get the films to maintain their
'loops' for very long, but we did see some frames with German words and a
small tank throwing up a dust cloud. Film was silent black and white. Put
them aside to do some research on them. Poof! Forgot about them. 16 years
ago I moved from the apartment I rented in my sisters house, leaving a bunch
of stuff in her attic. Two years later the house catches fire and a lot of
the stuff in the attic is either untouched or toast, sometimes with just 1
inch separating them. Fire Fighters chucked a lot of stuff from 3rd floor
attic while overhauling the fire.
Fast forward to today... we're hauling junk from my old Mass. house up
to the NH digs. My daughter is dragging a box of LPs out of the attic and
asks what is in the metal cans???? Well, turns out they didn't bite the big
one all those years ago. Sooooo...

Were German silent films from the 40s the same 16 mm format as we had in
the US in the 60's, 70's and 80's?
Anyone know of a company that would have the capability to play the
films and record it onto video tape or DVD?
My daughter used my magnifying headset and copied the following info
from the films and cans. Anyone care to try their hand on what this stuff
says? BTW ...She did something to the type font settings on the message to
get the dingle berries over the O and I can't get the stuff she read/typed
to shift back to a normal type font, let alone one font size..... Sorry.
