There is far less these days than even 20 years ago. Much if not most of
what remains is buried - some French diggers pulled up an FW190 near hear
last month and a freind of mine found some Panzer road wheels near Caen.
There is a farm trailer locally with two solid wheels - turn out to be
Panther road wheels. So much of the Normandy landscape and infrastructure
was destroyed that i guess much of the debris, the flotsam and jetsom,
dissapeared in the 1950's reconstruction.
Remains of a Bren carrier were found at Estry, the gorund having been oil
contaminated fro 60 years and the new owners decided to dig out the
offending soil to find the cause.

These stories always fascinate me. How in the world is that 60 years have
passed, and these items have only now been discovered? If a war had taken
place in MY backyard, you can jolly well assume that I would have been out
there with the metal detector long before this.
