Hi to all,
20 years ago ( or there-about ) an old tractor mechanic I knew told me he
used Iodine in stuck tractor engines. Not the tincture mix you buy in the
drug store, but the straight stuff. Seems it is caustic enough to disolve
the rust in the cylinders in a short time. However, it will also
"disolve" your hide if you spill it on yourself. Just FYI from an
old-timer.
I think straight Iodine is now a controlled substance (i.e. hazardous
chemical ), Don't know for certain. But, it will do the trick on rings
rusted to the cylinder wall.
