I'm not absolutely certain on this, but my feeling has always been
that the gen lights stay on until there is sufficient output from the
gen to
cause them to switch off.
In general, when I start up both lights come on and stay on until I rev
the engine a bit.
once I do that, they generally stay off. The only problems I have had is
when the belst became
loose, and in one case, disintegrated on me.
