When I go to the MVCC meets, I see a good number of jeeps that have been
converted to 12V; GPW, M38A1, etc. People converting theirs to ____ and
replacing ____ with a civy _____ aren't so evil... I bought most of the
parts I need from people converting their M38A1's with 12V parts or even
a V6 (or more). I got an engine off a guy supping up his with a Chevy
350. Without him it could have been a long time before I found a loose
M38A1 engine for sale. As much as it may make some of us cringe (me
included) they're putting parts back on the market. For a guy like me
restoring what was salvaged junk, I don't think I could have done it
correctly with the right parts without guys like this.

Subject: [MV] (MV) 12 volt M38a1
Let's give Chris a break. If he's been lurking for any length of time
he has seen chopped, missing an axle, deuce monster trucks, Cat powered
deuces, M37s w/ 2.5 ton axles, fake Tiger tanks etc. All he wants is to
change the voltage.
Of course I don't like any of the above....okay, maybe the fake Tiger
tank but thats not the point. I remember the many threads about making
the deuce faster, quieter, stop quicker. Half the charm of these old
trucks is the slowness, the lousy ride, the sound, the wind in your hair
(with the top on and windows rolled). I'm constantly amazed that the
M35a2 is a 56 year old design and it's still being used in a combat
zone. Look at how many vehicles have been designed, built and tested to
"replace the deuce". The recent thread on the Chrysler 8 wheel drive
truck was one of those.
Someone on our list once said that the deuce was designed to do a lot of
things okay. I like that alot.
So to Chris, you should probably leave that Jeep 24 volts or risk a
beating. At least a verbal one.
