You may be intersted to know that as the unit making of the film "Brisge at
Remargen" was doing the scene where the tanks rush for the bridge, real
Russian AFVs came down the road towards them, as it was the day the Russians
invaded Czekoslvakia - a friend of mine who was a stuntman on the film
driving a tank towards the Russians said it was a very scary moment........

Tomorrow is the 60th anniversary of the taking of the Remagen Bridge over
the Rhine
by US forces.
The US Combat Engineers immediately undertook making a Treadway Bridge just
north
of the bridge. One of the lead groups in that effort was the 291 Combat
Engineers. They
were also one of the groups that stayed behind at the Battle of the Bulge to
blow up bridges.
In their honor, I have marked my HMVs (all that would have been used by
them) as belonging
to the 291st
