There's a Chevron station south of us that's selling
regular for $3.05. $3.38 for premium, ouch! Bet
that's going to impact the big rigs that owners would
like to drive to our MVCC meet at the Tower's RV
facility in April.

I think there's probably a lot we can do to improve
our fuel usuage. We were mowing the orchard yesterday
and I noticed our 65 hp Massey diesel ran almost
continuously for 3 hours pulling a 3000 lbs of mowing
gear and only used about 6 gallons and its nothing
special. But, a lot of fuel economy comes from the
way throttle is used, proper timing, tire pressure,
high air flow in and out and of course the right
gearing.

Our 1972 M35a2 multifuel got about 10 MPG hwy by
adjusting the FDC, but if you do this you better use a
pyrometer to prevent overheating from running too
lean. There's probably a lot we can do to improve
mileage, even on older rigs.

On a very minor scale, I'm up to 40 mpg hwy. on our
Honda Civic, I changed the air filter to a high flow
type and added a low back pressure exhaust, cheap
fixes. Works great and got a little zip in the
process.
