Subject: [MV] Batteries and NAPA
I just bought a pair of group 31 NAPA batteries for my new M1009. They cost
more than I wanted to pay ($75 each) but they were a perfect fit. While I
was there, I asked them if they could get 6TLs and I got a "I don't think
so" response. I didn't want to wait for them to order them anyway and I was
tired of the poor fit of what you can get at wal Mart so I coughed up the
$150 and put them in.
Are all NAPA stores suppose to be able to get 6TLs and who do they order
them from? EXcide actually makes them don't they? What about that recent
link about a better replacement that could be shipped UPS. Anybody tried
them?
My M1009 had two group 31 batteries in it when I got it from GL. As many of
you know, the CUCV battery tray is designed for either 6TL or group 31
batteries. I have often wondered what they shipped from GM with. Anyone in
the service at the time remember what came in their brand new CUCV's? I
would bet that for a full resto a group 31 AC/delco battery would be more
correct.
