Boy, I hears ya on the vehicle judging! What a can of worms that opens...Best left closed in my humble opinion.
No, no, I have absolutely no new info on canvas. As far as I know, it can't get any better than what is available! :) I probably should have used the old Economics 101 reference to "widgets" for my example instead of an actual item of interest to MVers. Don't panic folks...the canvas is good!
