Negative.

No physicals are required for personal operation. That is only if you go
Commercial and fall under the FMC regulations.

Penalties are also exactly the same. The higher penalties only come into
play if you are actually driving a CDL vehicle when arrested. The rest of
the time the CDL acts the same as a regular Class D.

Actually I would resist a CDL as they are subject to
more strict driving law penalities even if you are not
driving a commerical rig at the time of the offense
plus manditory physicals.
