I just received three spray samples from a paint vendor. I asked for their
private mix, 319 and FS33070.
I matched the paint samples to the two NOS windshield brace knobs for our
weasel that I received from my parts vendor. The 319 is too light, and the
33070 is way too light. The private mix was right dead on, except it is a
little too shiny, which the note on the back of the sample said would be the
case, as the sample was not as flat as "normal".
The good news is that the color was so close to the NOS part, that when I
tilted them both so that there was no reflection, you almost could not see
where the sample and part met.
So, that is the color I will get.
Now, if the paint is too shiny after I spray it - any ideas how to dull it
back a little? Do they have a "dull coat" like they have in the plastic
model hobby that will work without having to buy a hundred of those little
cans?
