In the Jeep world I used to belong to before I got into military surplus
we experienced that same Phenomenon and called it Death Wobble. In a
Jeep it was caused by looseness in the front end, the axle would move a
little bit left to right and the steering would stay static causing the
wheels to turn a little left to right. This natural motion would build
up a harmonic and set the whole thing off into a giant wiggle that had a
really high pucker factor in the front seat. Although I know our trucks
are a lot different, I would check out all the hardware around the front
end to see if the diff is moving at all side to side that would
contribute to this problem.
