It does more than that... Helps hold the winch together end to end. How do
I know you ask? Would you believe that the winch cable could tear through
it like a hot knife through butter?? :-D I made mine out of 4" channel
steel Had to do both the top and back one. Although, I would like to
replace them with the right stuff as well, but the price would have to be
right! Shoot, I might even settle for a beat one as long as it aint damaged
too bad...

I'm looking for the plate that runs across the top of the winch. It has
the little data plates on it. It's purpose is to keep the cable from
whipping up and hitting the radiator (I think).

The one on my winch is kinda beat. If you have one that is NOS, or
pretty close to it, please contact me.
