From the beaches

I had forgotten just how slow and noisy a Diamond T 980 prime mover is - 70
miles in one was plenty today. Not much going on at Omaha, weather just
like 1944 so we motored up to Utah, where some of the Band of Brothers and
other vets were being feted. Babe Hefron was at the next table in the Utah
beach coffee shop - the owner has fro years been getting vets to sign the
walls and tables ( under the glass) and Hefron and several other BoB vets
duly obliged, mobbed by re-enactors seeking autographs. They never thought
61 years ago as they floated down they would become celebrities in their
80's. Sadly these brave souls are still overshadowed by the show biz menuci
who are hyped up by the media as fodder for a celebrity hungry
public........
